If you see an entry you would like to answer do you just communicate offline with the person whose issue it is via email? ----------------------------- The best way, for everyone on the list to benefit, is to send your response to

. However, if what you have is of a personal nature, please respond off the list, directly to the person. If you need to send an attachement, send your message to the list, explain your answer, and offer to send anyone the attachment, if they contact you and request it. |

Have you implemented something new in the last year? Have you solved a problem? Do you have something new or interesting to share? Have you done a presentation at MUSE?
Then, write an article about it for this web site. Can you wrtie about any of these following subjects? Do NOT consider this list as a limit. It's just a few suggestions. Implementing any of the Advanced Clinical Modules such as PCM, POM, RXM, etc Revenue Cycle Decision Support Clinical or Financial Indicators Nursing Interventions Physician Billing Analysis reporting from CPT Codes, ICD9 codes, DRGs Infectious Disease Tracking and Reporting Collecting and Reporting Alergies SNF and ALF Reporting Impressive NPR Reports Magic Tricks Just "Create an account" on the MTUsers.net web site (see lower left of Home page), and write your article. The domain name MTUsers.com supports the meditech-l email list for the users of Meditech systems. The software "The Mailman" actually runs on this server. It processes the incoming messages for the list and generates the thousands of message copies that are sent to the list subscribers. The domain name MTUsers.net supports other web activities for the meditech-l such as the MTUsers.net web site and the email boxes at MTUsers.net for the managers and volunteers who run the list. |

The trouble with attachments |

We have had the situation occur where someone had sent a very large attachment to the meditech-l. It was almost 80 MBs in size. This one message hung the entire server. This affected the meditehc-l as well as several other client who also had their email lists/web sites working on that same server. Imagine an 80 MB attachment being copied to 3300 subscribers and swamping the email system on the server until nothing is moving. I received a written hand slapping from the hosting provider regarding this. And, a severe, very serious warning that if this happened again, I would need to find a new provider. There are only a few providers who not only supports The Mailman email list but who know enough about the software to answer questions and support the efficient operation of the email list. These providers service a small but needy market and tend to be very expensive. I am using a hosting provider who negotiated a fair price based on the fact that the meditech-l is not run for profit. If I lose this provider, the list will suffer. Whether I can find another provider at an affordable price is quesitonable. Plus, the list might be down while I try to find such a provider. I am not suggesting that we stop trading info via attachments. But, use good sense. Only send very small attachements. Or, send notice of the info in the message, and ask anyone who wants the attachment to email you direct. Then, you can send the attachment to the few (or many) who want it. If the information in the attachment is generally useful in the long term, submit it as an article to the MTUsers.net web site. It can remain available to everyone. If you need help with submitting an article, contact me
